Department Establishment
The English Department was established in 2010 as one of the most important departments in the Faculty of Humanities at Al-Saeed University. The department offers many courses in basic fields such as literature, linguistics, teaching methods, and translation.
Vision
Providing a batch of qualified graduates capable of distinguishing themselves through their performance, and competing with other graduates from different corresponding institutions inside and outside Yemen.
Mission
Highly efficient education that enhances students’ skills, enriches their knowledge, develops their ideas, and prepares them well to assume their responsibilities at work, and continue their postgraduate studies in the same field or in other fields.
Goals
The program aims to enable and encourage students to:
- Communicate effectively in English.
- Translate different texts from English into Arabic and vice versa.
- Teach English to school students.
- Read literary and critical works in English.
- Write logically coherent, organized, and sophisticated texts that follow the methods and criteria of writing in English.
- Analyze and interpret their own or others’ texts, as well as understand the context of these texts and the ways in which the text corresponds to the context.
- Provide critical analysis of literary texts.
