Department Establishment:

The English Department was established in 2010 as one of the most important departments in the Faculty of Humanities at Al-Saeed University. The department offers many courses in basic fields such as literature, linguistics, teaching methods, and translation.

Dept. Vision:

Providing a batch of qualified graduates capable of distinguishing

themselves through their performance, and compete with other graduates from

different corresponding institutions inside and outside Yemen.

Department Mission:

Highly efficient education that enhances students’ skills, enhances their knowledge, develops their ideas and prepares them well to assume their responsibilities at work, and continue their postgraduate studies in the same field or in other fields.

Department Goals:

The program aims to enable and encourage student to:

1 Communicate effectively in English.

2. Translate different texts from English into Arabic and vice versa.

3. Teaching English to school students.

4. Reading literary and critical works in English.

5. Writing logically coherent, organized and sophisticated texts that follow the methods and criteria of writing in the English .

6. Analyse and interpret their own or others’ texts, as well as understand the context of these texts and the ways in which the text corresponds to the context.

7. Criticism of literary texts.
