About the Unit
The Al-Saeed Ranking University Unit is a specialized administrative and technical unit that falls under the umbrella of the Al-Saeed Center for Scientific Research. Formed by institutional edict, the unit operates as a strategic engine that guides and moves forward the university’s standing amongst global or regional ranking systems (QS, THE, ARWU, Webometrics, and AD Scientific Index). The unit is responsible for institutional data governance, international research metrics oversight, and research performance analysis in order to inform decision-making toward global competitiveness.

MissionTo establish a comprehensive and reliable data management ecosystem for integrating Al-Saeed University’s institutional and research milestones and develop effective global best practices (indexing databases - Scopus/ Web of Science). Our goal is to generate high-profile scientific outputs, maximise the standing of academic and employer brands while enabling knowledge transfer through international research collaborations that are strategic in relation to sustainability. |
Strategic Objectives
- Global Inclusion & Representation: Enabling Al-Saeed University to be included officially and represented within the major international rankings through specific dedicated data portals such as QS HUB, THE Data Collection Portal (for Times Higher Education), or AD Scientific Index.
- Affiliation Databases: Unify the institutional name of Al-Saeed University across Scopus and Web of Science databases to help eliminate fragmented profiles, making it mandatory that all researchers integrate their work with ORCID.
- Research Impact: Focus research strategy for publication in best (Q1/Q2) journals to increase normalized citation counts per faculty member.
- Reputation Management: Create and refresh every year a verified database of international academic peers and employers' contacts to accommodate global reputation surveys.
- Internationalization & Sustainability: Document cross-border research collaboration, international faculty/student ratio, and social/sustainability dimensions metrics.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Institutional Data Handling: Utilize academic, financial, and student data to collect, audit, and submit relevant validated datasets in ranking query portals such as QS HUB and THE Portal during respective contribution windows.
- Bibliometric Profile Management: Manage institutional profiles in Scopus and Web of Science, and coordinate with technical support to consolidate split affiliation IDs.
- Researcher Profile Verification: Orient and enforce verification of academic profiles on Google Scholar, Web of Science Researcher Profiles (and/or other platforms) using official institutional email addresses.
- Reputation Contact Administration: Prepare and send lists of compliant contacts for academic partners as well as target employers to ranking resources to maximize participation in surveys.
- Strategic Assessment: Conduct routine gap analyses and benchmarking reports to inform university leadership's strategic decisions.
- Capacity Building & Awareness: Conduct in-house workshops and training sessions for academic leaders and faculty members regarding international ranking criteria and strategic publishing.
